The Project

Choices in Health is a new project by Dr. Ashish K. Jha and the Harvard Global Health Institute, exploring how a diverse set of high-income nations comparable to the United States chooses to care for their people, and what the outcomes created by those decisions feel like for both patients and providers of care.

By traveling to eight countries from January through June 2020 and engaging with patients, families, physicians, nurses, administrators and policy makers, Jha and his team will take their expertise to the front lines of healthcare.

In podcasts, short videos, perspective pieces in medical journals, public talks and social media conversations, this project will weave together numbers and narratives, and make visible the values, customs, hardships and trade-offs that are at the heart of healthcare systems everywhere.
